PromPeru Hosts Pisco Punch: A Cocktail Comeback Story World Premiere at Napa Valley Film Festival
Los Angeles (PRWEB) November 13, 2016 -- The Trade Commission of Peru in Los Angeles and PROMPERU will participate as headline sponsors of the Napa Valley Film Festival in a celebration of the spirit of Peru, Pisco and the premiere of Pisco Punch: A Cocktail Comeback Story on November 13th. Peru’s participation at NVFF will celebrate the vibrant culture, spirit and gastronomic tourism of Peru as they host the Closing Night VIP party and promote Peru country brand over the course of the star-studded Napa Valley festival.
Pisco Punch tells the story of one of the world’s great rediscovered spirits, Pisco through the eyes of artisan pisco producers including Diego Loret de Mola of Barsol Pisco, credited with bringing the spirit to the attention of a wider international audience. A fitting venue for the movie, Napa Valley is not far from the birth place of the Pisco Punch created by Duncan Nicol in San Francisco in the 1800’s. Modern day Pisco producers including Macchu Pisco and Porton have elevated the spirits category of Pisco which was considered one of the most celebrated spirit in the western United States in the late 19th century. In Pisco Punch, leading bartenders and spirits writers from around the world unravel the provenance and mystery and uncover one of the great cocktail stories to be told on film for the first time. Directed and produced by spirits luminary, Alan Kropf and starring Diego Loret de Mola, founder of Barsol, the story traces the journey of Pisco and delves into the international resurgence of the spirit.
As the agency chosen to represent Peruvian exports to the United States, Director of the Trade Commission of Peru in Los Angeles, Ricardo Romero comments, “It is an honor to be in Napa to represent Peru and one of our most important and iconic exports, Pisco. Pisco Punch is an important homage to the artisan Pisco producers who represent the superlative quality of our national spirit and culture and Napa Valley Film Festival is the perfect platform for this premiere".
Pisco is a grape distilled spirit exclusively made in Peru maintaining the Pisco making tradition of first producers which dates back to the 16th century. Pisco must be made in one of five coastal valley regions of Peru, including Ica, Lima, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna and from eight different grape varieties including Quebranta, Negra Criolla, Uvina, Mollar, Moscatel, Torontel, Italia and Albilla.
Notable celebrities expected to attend NVFF include Jessica Biel, Matthew McConaughey, Dev Patel, Viggo Mortenson, Aaron Eckhart, Gordon Getty, Meredith Hagner, Katie Holmes, Sam Huntington, Sam Jaeger, Alex Karpovsky, Rose Leslie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Joel David Moore, Matt Ross, Wyatt Russell, Madeline Zima and many more.
