This annual 3-day event is the main event for Georgia primary care physicians to attend and learn about new technology in the field. Medical Residents from Georgia also had the opportunity to demonstrate their research. This year, over 200 abstracts were submitted to the event and only the top 10% were invited to the podium presentation. The oral presentation was divided into 3 categories, case study, quality improvement, and research. Addison Zhang, M.D. who is the second year medical resident at AU/UGA partnership program, collaborated with Jack Yen, Director of Bioinformatics from Mako Medical Laboratories on their topic on “Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis: Cell-free DNA in the Screening and Diagnosis of Heptocellular Carcinoma”. In their project, Dr. Zhang designed and selected the studies to be included to the analysis and Mr. Yen perform the secondary statistical analysis using statistical models and R programming language. Their findings were presented and the conference which tells that liquid biopsy could be a viable new approach for Heptocellular Carcinoma diagnostic with high sensitivity and none of the complications which may be caused by the traditional biopsy method.
