Salus Telehealth, Inc., Announces New Board of Directors Following Merger with VideoMedicine
Chicago, Ill., and Waycross, Ga. (PRWEB) November 18, 2016 -- Salus Telehealth, Inc., a market leader and trusted advisor within the telehealth industry, announces a new board of directors following its recent merger with VideoMedicine, the world’s first mobile, free-market doctor network. The seven-member board will steer Salus Telehealth, Inc., as it strives to offer a true end-to-end telemedicine solution that will reduce the overall cost of healthcare as well as have a significant role in improving health outcomes for patients.
Charles Butler, M.D. and creator of VideoMedicine, was elected chairman of the board. Dr. Butler received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine, and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. A former U.S. Olympic athlete, Dr. Butler has spearheaded several successful entrepreneurial ventures. As a philanthropist, he has also organized a variety of fundraisers and volunteered at free clinics to provide healthcare for those in need.
Bernard A. Harris, Jr., M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P., was elected vice chairman of the board. Dr. Harris is currently CEO and managing partner of Versalius Ventures, Inc., a venture capital firm that invests in early to mid-stage healthcare technologies and companies. Selected by NASA in January 1990, Dr. Harris became an astronaut in July 1991. He is qualified for assignment as a mission specialist on future Space Shuttle flight crews. He served as the crew representative for Shuttle Software in the Astronaut Office Operations Development Branch. A veteran of two space flights, Dr. Harris used telemedicine in space. Dr. Harris served at NASA for ten years, conducting research in musculoskeletal physiology and disuse osteoporosis.
Paula Guy, President and CEO of Salus Telehealth, Inc., was also elected to the board as a founding member. Ms. Guy was instrumental in building the successful nonprofit company Global Partnership for Telehealth and has over 16 years of leadership experience building national and international telemedicine networks. She served on the board of the Georgia Health Information Exchange, Georgia Technology Authority and has been a frequent telemedicine expert speaker and consultant.
Board member Frederick Feit, M.D is director of the Fellowship Training Program in Interventional Cardiology and Associate Professor of Medicine at the NYU Langone School of Medicine. He is recognized internationally for his scientific contributions, technical expertise and pioneering research.
Brent Furse was also elected to the board. He currently serves as the Global Chief Commercial Officer and President of U.S. at Cardiorentis AG. Mr. Furse has more than 25 years of healthcare commercial leadership experience, with 18 years in the acute care hospital medicine market.
Board member David Flannery, M.D. is the Medical Director at the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Bethesda, Md. Prior to this role, Dr. Flannery served as a M.D. Clinical Geneticist at the Medical College of Georgia Health Sciences University.
Rene LaVigne, President and CEO of Iron Bow, was elected to the board as well. He brings more than 25 years of experience to the Salus Telehealth, Inc., board in sales, marketing, operations, financing and accounting in the information technology and financial industries.
