Deployed via Group Policy, SCCM or PolicyPak Cloud, Least Privilege Manager increases security and minimizes malware and ransomware threats

“We enable IT admins to get out of the business of giving anyone local admin rights – Least Privilege Manager elevates only applications that users need to run, without disrupting user productivity or compromising security,”

PolicyPak Software, a provider of Application Configuration Management (ACM) solutions for Active Directory, today announced new security features to its Least Privilege Manager, which provides organizations with an integrated solution that provides control over all privileged accounts and users with Local Administrator access.

A key component of PolicyPak Suite, Least Privilege Manager is deployed via Group Policy, SCCM or PolicyPak Cloud.

Least Privilege manager has two main functions: Remove the need for users running with local Administrator accounts; and block malware, ransomware, and other unknown threats.

“We enable IT admins to get out of the business of giving anyone local admin rights – Least Privilege Manager elevates only applications that users need to run, without disrupting user productivity or compromising security,” said Jeremy Moskowitz, CEO, PolicyPak Software. “Furthermore, users do not need to be admins in order to modify specific operating system settings.” Additionally, Moskowitz added, “As a bonus, Least Privilege Manager helps you stop malware and ransomware, if attempted by the end user, blocking an attack.”

PolicyPak Suite helps IT admins keep desktop, system and security settings in compliance for domain-joined PCs by preventing users from working around settings. Benefits of Least Privilege Manager include:

  • Block unknown malware and zero day threats
  • Preconfigured rules for Admins which enable Standard Users to install their own applications
  • Remove local admin rights, but ensure that users can do key tasks and run specific software to keep productivity high
  • Enable users to get into Control Panel Applets
  • Only allows applications run if they were properly installed or otherwise sanctioned

In addition to Least Privilege Manager, PolicyPak Suite now offers the ability to change the Firefox default search engine in one-click and remove Firefox’s extra tabs at first launch.
