Zachys Hong Kong Closes the Year with a Strong HK$30.6M / US$3.9M Auction
Hong Kong, China (PRWEB) November 23, 2016 -- In a packed auction room, Zachys Hong Kong finished 2016 with extraordinary results in its Fine & Rare Wines and Spirits Auction. The auction realized HK$30,658,933 / US$3,955,991 and featured five of the most revered collections in the world, along with the other consignments from renowned private collectors.
Once again, the Mandarin Oriental was packed for this one-day auction, and clients flew in from around the globe to bid aggressively in the room. Not only were Hong Kong and mainland China major players, but Japan was a huge participant in this sale. Zachys was delighted to launch its first “simulcast” to a packed room in Tokyo, which accounted for nearly 20% of purchases by volume.
DRC, Pétrus, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Henri Jayer, Rouget and Armand Rousseau were some of the top lots of the sale. Some notable results include 12 bottles of Mouton Rothschild 1918 (750ML) which realized HK$232,750 (US$30,025), exceeding the pre-sale high estimate; nine bottles of Lafite Rothschild 1982 which exceeded pre-sale estimate at HK$220,500 (US$28,445), and two lots of 12 bottles each of 1990 Pétrus, which realized HK$343,000 (US$44,247) each.

The excitement in the room for this auction was palpable—and once again Zachys is at the forefront of auction excitement with our Tokyo Simulcast.
