The Music Choice 100 represents the top 100 videos that mattered most in 2016 to our fans; making it the most definitive list of what people wanted and are listening to.
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 23, 2016
Music Choice will count down the top 100 music videos of 2016 with the music network's 5th annual special, called the "Music Choice 100." For the first time ever, the list will be fully calculated by fan video orders, making it the ultimate honor for artists. The full list of this year’s biggest videos from today’s hottest artists like Rihanna, Adele, Drake, Meghan Trainor, Selena Gomez, and Chris Brown will be revealed on Music Choice On Demand starting November 25th on TV and via mobile devices.
The Music Choice 100 is a list of the top videos of the year based on comScore’s Custom OnDemand Essentials from October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 across TV and mobile devices. Of course this year’s list includes many of today’s longtime fan favorites, but was unique in that many new artists were represented. Several artists such as Rihanna, Demi Lovato, Future, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and 2 Chainz were once again present, while newcomers Zayn, Desiigner, Dej Loaf, Tory Lanez and iLoveMemphis landed their first distinction.
Unlike other "Best of..." or year-end round up lists, the Music Choice 100 is aggregated using Music Choice's extensive data impressions from TV and mobile devices as monitored via comScore’s Custom OnDemand Essentials, mirroring Music Choice’s consumer experience. A song's ranking on the “Music Choice 100” list is determined by the number of Music Choice Video On Demand orders and web/app views by users.
Damon Williams, SVP Programming Strategy and Partnerships at Music Choice stated: “Music Choice is the #1 Free On Demand network on television. As a result, the Music Choice 100 represents the top 100 videos that mattered most in 2016 to our fans; making it the most definitive list of what people wanted and are listening to. We are proud to offer our audience the most popular videos of the last year along with major artist and fan moments.”
Leading into the launch, Music Choice will roll out exclusive video content of Music Choice 100 artists talking about their hit songs, and will also present this year's outstanding artists with special awards such as “#1 Video,” “Best New Artist,” “Pop Artist of the Year," and “Music Choice 100 Icon” among others.
The full list won’t be revealed until the special airs, but fans can expect to hear, in no particular order:
•New Artists: This year saw tons of new names dominating the charts and the airwaves. From Tory Lanez, who we featured as one of our Primed new artists this year, to Bryson Tiller, Desiigner, and 2 Milly who first appeared across our platforms in our Brand New This Week campaign, this group brought some new sounds and new faces to the music scene.
•Return of the Icons: With Missy Elliott releasing new music as well as Shakira, Usher, and Justin Timberlake, you can’t rule out these crowd favorites! There is also a special Music Choice Moment with Britney Spears you won’t want to miss!!
•Independent Artist Takeover: Artists like iLoveMemphis, Young Thug, and D.R.A.M helped prove that independent artists are quickly becoming the new mainstream and we were happy they found a successful new platform with us to release their music.
•Year of YouTube Sensation Bart Baker: Bart Baker’s prominence cannot be denied. We gave this YouTube sensation a platform on TV and he kept his name on the tip of everyone’s tongue with four hit parodies that made the countdown: “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” “Hotline Bling,” “What Do You Mean?” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”
•Canadian Artists Invasion: Canadians made a clear claim on this year’s list with Justin Bieber releasing new music as well as Drake, The Weeknd, and Tory Lanez.
