Award-Winning Cataract & Refractive Surgeon Joins Medical Staff At North Shore Eye Care, a Division of SightMD
Smithtown, New York (PRWEB) November 28, 2016 -- Award-winning cataract and refractive surgeon, Dr. Jonathon Ellant, today announced his affiliation with North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD, New York’s largest and fastest-growing ophthalmic provider group, according to Jeffrey Martin, MD, Managing Partner of North Shore Eye Care.

Dr. Ellant will continue seeing patients at his current practice 114 East 27th Street, NYC. For the past 14 years, Dr. Ellant has been voted ‘One of America’s Eye Surgeons" by the Research Council of America and is currently on the board of directors and medical advisory committee for the National Association for Visually Handicapped.
Dr. Ellant earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 1990, he then went on to earn his medical degree 1990 from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, where he also completed his internship. Dr. Ellant completed his ophthalmology residency at Lenox Hill Hospital - New York University School of Medicine and went on to complete a fellowship in cataract and refractive surgery with the world renowned eye surgeon, Dr. Howard Gimbel at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
“Completing my fellowship training in cataract and refractive surgery at the renowned Gimbel Eye Centre was a turning point in my medical career,” Dr. Ellant said. “It was the genesis of vision correction procedures like LASIK and refractive cataract surgery using phacoemulsification, which have both now become standards of care in ophthalmology. I have spent the past 16 years fine tuning our techniques in these areas and introducing the latest technology to enable us to provide patients superior results.
Dr. Ellant maintains hospital privileges across the area, including New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital and Mount Sinai Medical Center.
