DuPont™ Corian® shapes the new futuristic and technological headquarters of Irizar Group
(PRWEB UK) 24 November 2016 -- It is hard to imagine a more fitting material than DuPont™ Corian to shape the new headquarters of a company based on two fundamental principles: technological innovation and a futuristic vision. It is precisely this idea that the Irizar Group –a world leading bus and coach manufacturer with 125 years of experience – wanted to convey when renovating its headquarters and showroom in Guipuzcoa. Using this advanced performance techno-surface, the company has achieved its key objective. Most of the facility’s furniture and interior wall cladding have been shaped in Corian® Glacier White, with the intricate design conceived exclusively for the client and the entire installation produced in the Dab Leioa workshop.
From the reception desk and its back panelling, to all the interior wall cladding, as well as the displays, furniture, columns, counters and meeting rooms – every element has been manufactured in DuPont™ Corian®. On the second floor, a contemporary and innovative 1,200 square metre space houses the client’s reception and coach definition and brand experience areas. The showroom includes physical and virtual displays of all the upholstery and lining options offered by the Group which enable bespoke coach designs to be developed for each client. To meet the needs of each area of the headquarters, Dab Leioa workshop has used many different moulds and about 120 6mm sheets of DuPont™ Corian®. Much-needed and highly complex, the new design needed to incorporate a variety of different elements while ensuring a unified space.
The thermoforming ability of the material, as well as its high performance in terms of strength, durability and maintenance, were the key factors that led the project leaders to choose Corian®. Project coordinator Txema Otero Villanueva says that the selection of DuPont™ Corian® was due to “the versatility of the material to achieve any kind of shape – however complex – and to its final finishing that allows us to convey a feeling of high quality and design within each one of the elements that form the showroom”.
Thanks to its combination of functional and aesthetic qualities, Corian® not only withstands the normal wear and tear of this type of environment, but also enables the minimalist, futuristic design that the space calls for to be realised. Otero continues, “What we like the most is the final finishing of the material and how it withstands the test of time as well as its maintenance and neatness. Had we chosen another type of solution, after a while, we would have had to do some kind of maintenance. Instead, with DuPont™ Corian®, the premises remain like the first opening day”.
“The two other advantages that DuPont™ Corian® has provided us with are its fast execution ability and its flexibility to adapt to changes that occurred during the assembly process”, concludes the project manager.

The curving, sinuous shapes designed using DuPont™ Corian® create a cutting-edge, dynamic atmosphere which inspires a feeling of moving forward – always looking towards what is yet to come. Through the clean and precise pieces that have been conceived in this material, every element of the design is reminiscent of roads, which create an enveloping and deliberate rhythm in any landscape.
