Camp K Celebrates 50 Years with VIP Events & Charity Boxing Gala featuring Two-Time Heavy Weight Champion Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe

Two-day 50th anniversary celebration featuring two VIP events and a charity boxing gala (#KO4CAMPK) finale on November 29 (also #GivingTuesday) to help ensure Camp K remains a leader in the community and nationwide in helping improve the lives of people of all abilities through education, recreation, and growth opportunities.

On #GivingTuesday, November 29th Camp K President and CEO Mircea Divricean, Camp K COO Mike Divricean and ABC4 Anchor Don Hudson will take on Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe at the Marriott Downtown at City Creek in the boxing ring to raise awareness and funds to support Camp K and its numerous programs recognized worldwide that improve the quality of life for people of all ages with disabilities. Governor Herbert will kick off the boxing match with remarks and ring the bell, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes will announce and Sheriff Winder will officiate in the ring.

NOTE: All three Camp K events are open to media; Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe will be available for interviews at all three events including the charity boxing gala. However, please note that the best access to the boxing champion will take place at the two VIP events on Monday, Nov. 28.

ABOUT RIDDICK “BIG DADDY” BOWE
Bowe is a great example of focus, dedication, and perseverance. He said, “Camp K
touches my heart. I love kids, and I just want to help the kids. It’s all for the kids.”
Bowe is a former professional boxer who won a silver medal in the “super
heavyweight” division at the 1988 Summer Olympics. In 1989, he became a two-time
world heavyweight champion. In 1992, he won the undisputed WBA, WBC, and IBF
titles. In 1995, he became the first boxer in history to have won the titles of all four
major sanctioning bodies — WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO —and remains the only
heavyweight to do so. His boxing record stands at 43-1, with 33 knockouts. His
inspiration is the great Muhammad Ali. Riddick says, “Ali is the greatest, but I am the
latest.”
