Magazine's annual award program spotlights innovative construction products that improve safety, efficiency and productivity.

“At JCB, we’re always looking for ways to design, engineer and produce equipment that helps our customers do their jobs better, faster and more efficiently." -- Thom Peebles, VP of Marketing for JCB North America

JCB’s 57C-1 compact excavator has been named among Construction Equipment magazine’s Top 100 New Products of 2016. New technology, new product lines, existing products that have been significantly enhanced, or new products that increase competition in their categories are eligible for inclusion in this award program.

“We’re very pleased that Construction Equipment has recognized our new 57C-1 compact excavator in its Top 100 New Products of 2016,” said Thom Peebles, Vice President of Marketing for JCB North America. “At JCB, we’re always looking for ways to design, engineer and produce equipment that helps our customers do their jobs better, faster and more efficiently. It’s very gratifying to see our efforts recognized by CE’s experienced and knowledgeable editorial staff.”

JCB’s 57C-1 conventional tailswing excavator shares the durable design proven on the larger machines in JCB’s Next Generation compact excavator range. A redesigned digging end, with a longer main boom and shorter dipper arm, provides up to 5-percent-greater dump height for easier truck and site dumper loading. The digging end is also 100-percent bushed, leading to extended 500-hour greasing intervals. As with JCB’s larger JS excavators, the 57C-1 has 9 power modes available, including Eco and H+ heavy digging mode. An optional Safe Lift feature, complete with an integral Lift Overload warning system, is an industry-first in this machine weight class. Access to the 48-hp, Tier-4-Final, no-DPF JCB by Kohler engine is easy thanks to wide-opening steel canopies at the rear and to the side of the machine. The 57C-1 is available with JCB’s LiveLink telematic monitoring and location service, providing customers with machine work hour data, fuel level and consumption information and a host of critical system alerts.

“The 57C-1 was designed as a premium 5-ton machine, with improved lift capacity and stability,” said Jordan Dey, JCB’s Compact Excavator Product Specialist. “Those improvements plus its many enhanced features, including a 19-percent-larger cab and 11-percent-greater visibility, make it an ideal compact excavator for contractors.”

Construction Equipment’s Top 100 New Products award program was conceived to call special attention to the most significant new products announced each year. These awards serve to emphasize innovations, highlighting manufacturers who are investing in research and development, resulting in a more competitive marketplace. The CE editorial team reviews several hundred product introductions each year, using their years of equipment experience to independently select the Top 100.
