AIDS United Board of Trustees Names Jesse Milan, Jr. President & CEO
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) November 29, 2016 -- AIDS United Board of Trustees has named Jesse Milan, Jr., as president & CEO. Mr. Milan, a 30-year HIV/AIDS community advocate and nationally recognized leader and speaker on HIV/AIDS policies and programs, has served as Interim President & CEO since June 20, 2016. He takes the helm in the permanent position effective immediately.

A person living with HIV for over three decades, Mr. Milan’s record of thought leadership and service spans regional, national and global arenas. He brings experience in executive roles in public and private sectors and has directed multi-million dollar budgets and staff for public health agencies and government contractors. He has traveled extensively and addressed millions on behalf of the U.S Department of State and just last month delivered a keynote address at the National Trans Health Conference. Over the last five months, Milan has focused on internal capacity, funder relations and increasing the visibility and reach of AIDS United while serving as Interim President & CEO.
He currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and has co-chaired the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Advisory Committee on HIV and STD Prevention and Treatment (CHAC) for a five-year appointment. A lawyer by background, Milan has received numerous honors including the 2015 Public Service Award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) and in 2007 was designated a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Global HIV/AIDS.
Further, he serves as Chair Emeritus on the Black AIDS Institute board of directors, on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and has served as board chair for five non-profit organizations. Milan was also director of the $21 million AIDS Office for the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health. He recently served as a leadership development consultant with the Dorrier Underwood firm, and a subject matter expert on projects for the CDC, HRSA and the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy, within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health.
