Children at Velas Vallarta can also paint and decorate their own Michoacán-inspired ornaments to adorn their family’s trees. Michoacán, located in the lush mountains of Mexico, celebrates Christmas every day of the year as a production center of handmade ornaments for Mexico, the US and Canada. Despite the absence of a traditional wintry Christmas setting, Michoacán’s stores are tiny and quaint and create a village of Christmas shops not unlike the fictional Santa’s North Pole.
