Huffington’s Thrive Global Pop-Up Store Showcases uBiome Gut Explorer Kits for the Microbiome
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2016 -- Microbial genomics leader uBiome will be featured by Thrive Global, a new and groundbreaking venture founded by Arianna Huffington, as part of the Thrive Global pop-up store. This stunning 5,000 square foot loft-based experience will offer the uBiome Gut Explorer Kit, enabling purchasers to explore the microorganisms in their gut, collectively known as the microbiome.
The Thrive Global pop-up store, which will be open from December 1, 2016 through January 15, 2017 at 419 Broome Street in Manhattan, features the latest productivity and well-being products and technologies as well as a virtual reality space, meditation lounge, and bedroom sanctuary.
Thrive Global’s commerce platform offers a curated selection of the best technology and products – including newly developed Thrive products – for well-being and performance. In collaboration with its scientific advisory board, Thrive Global vetted hundreds of the latest and most cutting-edge health and well-being technologies, products, and services to curate those that meet standards for quality and impact. uBiome’s Gut Explorer Kit includes everything individuals need to send samples of their gut microbes to the uBiome laboratory for comprehensive analysis. The user-friendly process starts with an at-home collection kit. Users swab a piece of used toilet paper, stirring the swab into a small tube, then sealing it in a prepaid envelope to mail to uBiome’s lab in San Francisco.
uBiome uses next generation high-throughput DNA sequencing to identify thousands of microorganisms that can live in the human gut. The uBiome analysis also determines the relative abundance of different microbes, providing citizen scientists with a list of microbes, how they compare to others, and diet and lifestyle suggestions.
Microorganisms in the gut play a critical supporting role in digestion and the synthesis of vitamins, while other microbes are associated with a range of conditions such as autoimmune disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and skin conditions.
Media entrepreneur and author Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, says: “We are a company deeply rooted in science and dedicated to helping people go from knowing what to do to bring more well-being into their lives to actually doing it. I am so excited about the amazing collection of products, services, and technologies we’re featuring at Thrive Global that will help people improve their well-being and productivity and lead healthier and more joyful lives.”
Thrive Global’s mission is to end the stress and burnout epidemic by offering companies and individuals sustainable, science-based solutions to enhance both well-being and performance. Thrive Global says that recent science has shown that the pervasive belief that burnout is the price that must be paid for success is a delusion. Thrive Global knows, instead, that when people prioritize their well-being, their decision-making, creativity, and productivity improve dramatically.
Dr. Jessica Richman, co-founder and CEO of uBiome, says: “We’re delighted that our Gut Explorer Kit has been selected by Thrive Global to feature in their pop-up store. Each of us has 100 trillion microbes hitching a ride through life with us. Let’s learn how to cultivate the garden in our gut. What a fun, science-oriented holiday gift for a student, friend, or family member!”
