New Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant to Open in Katy in February 2017

Company’s first Houston-area location scheduled to open at the Shoppes at Parkwest.

Construction is well underway on the new Abuelo’s Mexican restaurant, which is scheduled to open at 24600 Katy Freeway, Suite 1020, at the Shoppes at ParkWest in February 2017. This will be Abuelo’s first location in the Houston-area and the company’s 39th location nationwide.

The new Abuelo’s will feature approximately 7,600-square-feet of interior space and will include an outdoor, climate controlled patio with operable doors that can be opened in nicer weather or closed as needed. It will also feature a natural light skylight over an interior courtyard, with a mix of both modern and traditional Mexican décor. The restaurant will seat approximately 270 guests and will employ between 80-100 employees.

“After many years of guest requests and researching various sites in the Houston are, we are thrilled to expand Abuelo’s into this market,” said Robert Lin, President of FCI. “We expect the Katy location to be an excellent fit for us and we’re looking forward to being an active member of the community.

The new Abuelo’s location will feature a menu rich with creative, made-from-scratch Mexican specialties, as well as superior service and affordable prices, for which Abuelo’s is known.
