ICA Chosen to Provide Alerting Technology to Central Illinois Health Information Exchange
Nashville, Tennessee (PRWEB) December 05, 2016 -- ICA, a leader in strategic interoperability, today announced that the company will provide alerting technology to Central Illinois Health Information Exchange (CIHIE) using its Smart Alerts platform. CIHIE has been recently awarded $1.7 million in federal funds as the sole sub-recipient participating with the Illinois Health Information Exchange Authority in the “Advanced Interoperable Health Information Technology Services to Support Health Information Exchange” initiative.
The initiative is open to all hospitals statewide and represents CIHIE’s first expansion outside of the central Illinois area.
“We could not be more excited about the opportunity that this federal investment brings to our region and for the improvements that will now be possible in patient care,” explained CIHIE Executive Director, Joy Duling. “No matter where you are receiving care – from the back of an ambulance, to a skilled nursing facility, to home health, to a hospital stay – we can make sure your health records travel with you.”
“This is another example where ICA’s alerting technology continues to provide real-time information to caregivers when patient encounters (inpatient admission, discharge and emergency room visits) occur both in and out of networks.” stated ICA’s Vice President of Client Services, Brian Higdon. “The ICA/CIHIE relationship is important, and we look forward to building and supporting an alerting network that will create real-value, not only for central Illinois but also into Chicago and across the entire state.”
“Automated alerting can ensure that a primary care provider or care manager is aware of significant events for the most vulnerable patients,” Duling said. “This provides real-time – or aggregated digests – of information that wouldn’t typically be made available unless the patient remembers to mention it when they come in for their next visit. Ultimately, this means more responsive and cost effective care, while reducing the possibility that patients are going to be subjected to duplicative or contraindicated care.”
