Dr. Ben Carson was congratulated for his nomination as the Secretary for Housing and Urban Development of the Trump Administration by the General Counsel of his presidential campaign, Michael Zarlenga of Bergstrom Attorneys.
“Dr. Ben Carson’s commitment, knowledge and life’s experiences will inspire the very Americans whose lives are affected by the Department of Housing and Urban Development,” says Zarlenga. “As a cabinet secretary, Dr. Carson will provide vision and principle to the Trump Administration,” Zarlenga continued.
Since May 2015, Mr. Zarlenga has served as General Counsel for Carson America, Inc., Dr. Carson’s principal campaign committee for the Republican National Committee's 2016 Presidential Nomination. Mr. Zarlenga continues to serve Carson America while he is of counsel in the DC-based Bergstrom Attorneys. Mr. Zarlenga continues to wind up the legal matters of the campaign following Dr. Carson’s withdrawal from the GOP primary on March 4.
“A campaign is much like a start-up company,” says Mr. Zarlenga. “On day one, you have no money, no staff, no real estate, and an idea. On day 120, you hope to have $100 million in revenue, hundreds of staff throughout the country, and offices in most states,” he says. “The amount of legal work done in such a short amount of time is staggering. You have everything from Federal Election Commission regulation to airplane leases to employment law issues,” says Matthew Bergstrom, founder and principal of Bergstrom Attorneys. “And it needs to be dismantled quickly and efficiently. I can think of no one more qualified to steer the legal department for Carson America than Mr. Zarlenga.”
Mr. Zarlenga also served as a legal and policy advisor for Carson America on 2nd Amendment and firearms issues based on his extensive knowledge of applicable cases, legislation and ATF regulations and his first hand experience as a Federal Firearms Licensee.
Mr. Zarlenga is an Ohio native, where he obtained his BS in Business and JD from The Ohio State University. He has practiced law with several distinguished firms in the areas of corporate and contract law for, including the highly regulated fields of securities law and banking law.
