The reality is that we all go through different transitions throughout our lives – moving, downsizing, clearing an estate when a loved one dies. It can be stressful and anxiety-ridden, but it doesn’t have to be.

Brenda Thomas gave up her demanding corporate career to reconnect with her family, but when it sunk in that her youngest son would be going off to college, she decided it was time for her next career move. Now she’s looking forward to combining her professional corporate experience and her passion for family with her new local business, Caring Transitions of Columbia, Clarksville and Western Suburbs.

Caring Transitions is America’s largest resource for managing senior relocations as well as downsizing and estate liquidations. In addition to organizing, packing, de-cluttering, moving and resettling, Caring Transitions can handle estate sales, liquidations and preparing homes for market.

Caring Transitions of Columbia, Clarksville and Western Suburbs serves Columbia, Clarksville, Glenig, West Friendship, Glenwood, Dayton, Sykesville, Woodbine and parts of Laurel.

Thomas has an MBA in marketing and, prior to opening Caring Transitions, she spent 20 years launching and managing brands for multiple major companies including Nabisco, Western Union, ADP and more. In 2007 she started her own consulting practice and was instrumental in the merger of Traveport and Worldspan (a global travel booking system) into what is today Travelport, Inc., a business currently based in United Kingdom.

“Over the past few years, I cut back on my own career, moved closer to family and realigned my priorities. But with my youngest son heading off to college, I decided I was ready for my next challenge. I decided to look into franchising opportunities and, when I came across Caring Transitions, I knew it would be perfect. The services, the emphasis on compassion and even the name appealed to me. It just felt right,” Thomas said.

Whether your situation is planned or unexpected, Caring Transitions’ services are perfect for seniors moving in with family or into a safer living situation as well as busy families and people clearing out the home of a loved one who has passed. All of Caring Transitions’ services are customizable, so clients only pay for the services they need – whether that means managing the entire move and estate-clearing or just getting someone resettled into their new place.

“The reality is that we all go through different transitions throughout our lives – moving, downsizing, clearing an estate when a loved one dies. It can be stressful and anxiety-ridden, but it doesn’t have to be. At Caring Transitions, the services we provide are designed to alleviate that anxiety and help you move on to the next chapter of your life. We’ll treat you like family and take care of you like family,” Thomas said. “My mother, who is almost 90-years-old, has been my biggest advocate and has even come to some of my networking events. She has given me some real insight into the senior market and helped me to understand the nuances of working in this field. It’s made a big difference for me to have her involved and excited about what we’re doing.”

“I’m thrilled to be able to offer these services to the people in my own community and I’m looking forward to building partnerships with other local businesses that serve the senior market. I’m also excited about building a team of neighbors to help make this company a great part of our community,” she added.
