This fundraiser is fully aligned with UMA's goal to improve healthcare through education.
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) December 08, 2016
Ultimate Medical Academy proudly donated $5,000 to the recent US 103.5 FM Cares for Kids Radiothon.
In all, the event raised $383,312 for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., surpassing last year’s total of $358,000.
The two-day on-air event took place Dec. 1 - 2 and featured children and families from all around the area who shared their stories about the role Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital has played in their lives. The money raised from the radiothon directly funds treatment, research, education and advocacy initiatives throughout Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital and its eight outpatient centers in Florida.
“We’ve been pleased to sponsor this wonderful event for the past four years. Each time, we are deeply impressed by the kindness and generosity of everyone involved, from donors to organizers to volunteers,” said Dan Soschin, UMA’s vice president of Marketing who oversees the nonprofit healthcare school’s philanthropic initiatives.
To date, UMA has raised more than $65,000 for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, including sponsoring a Sensory Integration Therapy Lab at the hospital’s Rehabilitation Center. UMA employees also volunteer for the hospital’s annual telethon and radiothon, staffing the phone banks.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital provides expert pediatric care for infants, children and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems in the world. During the past nine years, the radiothon event has raised more than $1.9 million to support the programs and services offered by Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.
“We believe this fundraiser for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is fully aligned with our goal to improve healthcare through education,” said Soschin. “We also believe that community outreach is an excellent way to positively affect the people in our community, including children struggling with difficult and life-threatening diseases.”
UMA’s involvement with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is one of the many service projects and outreach initiatives the institution participates in each year. For more details about UMA’s involvement in the community, visit ultimatemedical.edu/about/community-outreach.
