The VIA Agency Sends Employee to North Pole to Find Creative Magic
(PRWEB) December 08, 2016 -- The VIA Agency, a full-service creative agency, is sending one employee to the North Pole this holiday season, as part of the company’s "Hey You, Go. Do!" initiative, where agency leaders pick one employee completely at random to take an off-site adventure and report back to staff.
"The idea of 'Go. Do.' is to get people out of their comfort zones, do something that will challenge them intellectually and emotionally, and provide new experiences that bring that inspiration back to the agency. Earlier this year, one VIA staffer was sent to New Hampshire the weekend before the presidential primaries to meet candidates from both parties. Another employee was randomly picked to go see the Broadway musical "Hamilton" in New York. Other times, the agency has closed down for an hour to host a lunchtime dance party, host a snow sculpture contest, or conduct improv classes and art and crafts.
In the spirit of the holidays but also in line with the company’s 10 principles, VIA CEO Leeann Leahy wanted her employees to “find the magic” this holiday season, which is one of the company’s guiding principles.
“It makes our work stronger and more creative,” said Leahy. “And, what better place to find magic than at the North Pole in Santa’s Village during peak season?” Art Director Danielle Dutile and her boyfriend will be flying to Rovaniemi, in Finish Lapland, on Saturday, December 10th. They will be staying in the Santa Claus' Village, going on a reindeer safari, eating in a restaurant made entirely of ice and snow, meeting Santa himself, seeing the the elves in their workshop, and seeing the Northern Lights.
“I just kept waiting for Leeann to tell me that she was kidding,” said Dutile. “She pulled my name randomly, before letting me know that I was selected to get on a flight to Finland this weekend. While she asked me if I had a passport, I stared at her for at least one minute, waiting for her to tell me it was a joke...but it’s not, and I am so excited to have this experience.”
The whole point of VIA’s “Go Do” program is to keep associates inspired and keep creativity flowing through the agency. Upon Dutile’s return, at the company holiday party, she will share her stories, photos and certificate showcasing that she actually crossed the line into the arctic circle.
