"Pho is at the heart and soul of what we do,” says owner of Namese, New Orleans Vietnamese restaurant, Hieu Doan. Namese invites its Mid-City neighbors, patrons, and friends to celebrate the national dish of Vietnam on Monday, December 12th for National Pho Day. This particular food holiday is centered around the Mid City restaurant’s signature dish and fan favorite.

Pho is traditionally eaten as a “family meal” in the Vietnamese community. While pho is commonly associated as a comfort food, to descendants of the Vietnamese culture, pho is typically enjoyed in the morning as breakfast as well as on Sundays among family. This tradition runs deep in the Namese family and to the Doan family in particular. They continue to observe Sunday as a family day and close their restaurant in respect of this.

On Monday, December 12th, patrons are invited to celebrate their family’s recipe, tradition, and culture. Pho Day visitors will be treated to a complimentary egg roll with a purchase of a pho entrée – on both in-house, to-go, and delivery orders. Creative new cocktails and happy hour drink specials will debut during Monday’s celebration as well.

While pho is the featured dish of the day, Namese’s menu also features many other traditional Vietnamese dishes with a New Orleans fusion theme. Customer favorites include their Coconut Lemongrass Curry, Mussels, the Sauteed Calamari appetizer, Lamb Lollipops, and Crabby Rice. Chef creates weekly specials straight from his family’s kitchen, too, including namese’s unique Shaken Pho. Shaken Pho features the guest’s quest choice of protein seared in bone marrow oil, onion, and garlic then smothered in broth, noodles, and traditional pho garnish. All menu options will be available during Namese’s celebratory event.
