BALTIMORE (PRWEB) December 12, 2016
New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick announced today a partnership between the Bill Belichick Foundation and lacrosse company, STX to provide $20,000 worth of new, safe gear to teams in need. The Bill Belichick Foundation’s second annual lacrosse equipment grant application will be available online until January 1, 2017, for youth and high school teams around the world. The purpose of this partnership is to give more student athletes the opportunity to learn and safely play the sport of lacrosse. The BBF has increased its giving and will distribute STX gear to roughly six teams for the start of the Spring 2017 lacrosse season, up from three teams in 2016.
Earlier this year, The Bill Belichick Foundation’s equipment grant provided the following teams in need with a budget for new gear of their choice: The Youth L.I.F.E. Support Network, Inc., Beverwyck Renegade Lacrosse program, Croatian Lacrosse Association, and Dennis Yarmouth Girls Lacrosse Club. This year, the BBF and STX Lacrosse Equipment Grant will provide full head-to-toe gear for roughly six teams. Youth and high school teams are eligible to apply at http://www.billbelichickfoundation.org.
The BBF and STX will provide gear for 24 field players and equipment for one goalie for each grant winning team for the upcoming 2017 Spring season. Boys’ teams will be awarded with helmets, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads and sticks. Girls’ teams will be gifted goggles and sticks for 24 field players along with gear for one goalie.
BBF and STX aim to make the sport of lacrosse more accessible to the growing population of America’s young players. “We are proud to partner with STX to provide new lacrosse gear to underserved youth teams looking take their programing to the next level,” said Coach Belichick. “We also hope this will take the burden of expensive gear off the parents and provide additional resources for coaches so more kids can be on the field at once,” he added.
