Ford's Theatre Launches New Website by Fastspot

Ford’s Theatre, site of Abraham Lincoln’s murder, has unveiled a cutting-edge new website which will delight people around the world who are seeking to learn more about Lincoln’s assassination and legacy.

Ford’s Theatre is the only destination in Washington, D.C., which boasts a working theatre, museum, and historic site. The new Ford's website expands Ford’s Theatre’s digital footprint and engages everyone who is passionate about Lincoln and his legacy. As a primer or supplement to a visit, the website boasts classroom exercises for teachers, as well as unique, digital resources regarding school field trips and other educational programs with which they or their students can engage. The taxonomy on the site connects historical information, media, lesson plans, digitized primary sources, and commentary.

“As a vibrant, working playhouse, we have so much going on at Ford’s Theatre. In addition to a rich history, museum, and theatre, we offer meet-and-mingle events, behind-the-scenes tours and special exhibits. The new site beautifully captures all that is Ford’s Theatre,” said Tatum Walker, associate director of digital strategy at Ford’s Theatre.

The Ford’s Theatre Society was founded under the guidance of executive producer Frankie Hewitt, who, during her 35-year tenure, established Ford’s as a living, working theatre producing performances that highlighted the diversity of the American experience. Since the arrival of Paul R. Tetreault as director, critics and the theatre-going public have recognized Ford’s for the superior quality of its artistic programming. With works from the nationally acclaimed "Big River," to the world premieres of "Meet John Doe," "The Heavens Are Hung In Black," "Liberty Smith," "Necessary Sacrifices," "The Widow Lincoln" and "The Guard," Ford’s Theatre is making its mark on the American theater landscape. In the last decade, the mission of Ford’s Theatre Society expanded to include education as a central pillar. This expansion led to the creation and construction of the Center for Education and Leadership, which opened in February 2012. Currently, under the leadership of Board of Trustees Chairman Eric A.
