Mediware to Serve on National Uniform Claims Committee for AAHomecare
Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) December 20, 2016 -- Mediware Information Systems, Inc., a provider of comprehensive post-acute healthcare software, announces that Mediware DME software product managers Rebecca Bowden and Kimberly Commito have been appointed to represent the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) on the National Uniform Claims Committee (NUCC) for 2017. The long-standing partnership between AAHomecare and Mediware, providing forward-thinking software technology combined with legislative efforts, have helped providers successfully navigate the challenges of the HME/DME industry.
The NUCC comprises a diverse group of healthcare industry stakeholders representing providers, payers, designated standards maintenance organizations, public health organizations, and vendors. The underlying goal of the committee is to help standardize data to transmit claims and encounter information to and from all third-party payers. Serving as the primary AAHomecare representative for the HME/DME industry, Bowden will participate in industry discussions related to maintaining the healthcare provider taxonomy code set, managing 1500 claim forms, and monitoring legislative and regulatory changes that impact claims.
“I am looking forward to becoming part of the NUCC and representing AAHomecare,” says Bowden, product manager for the Home Care Solutions division of Mediware. “The AAHomecare organization really fights for providers on Capitol Hill, and by adding our software experience into this new role, it can only help in improving efficiencies so that providers have more time to focus on exceptional patient care,” she added.
“We are pleased Mediware will serve on the NUCC, representing the HME industry on behalf of the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare),” says Tom Ryan, president and CEO of AAHomecare. “The work of this voluntary organization, whose efforts to set standards for claims and electronic transmissions allows all providers to work more efficiently and be compensated for the services provided, makes a huge impact for providers. We thank Mediware for their willingness to participate in this committee and know from their involvement and commitment to AAHomecare, they will bring great technical expertise and comprehension, along with passion and zeal to the work they do with NUCC,” added Ryan.
