Pizza Man To Open Third Location At Drexel Town Square
Milwaukee (PRWEB) April 11, 2016 -- Pizza Man has signed a lease with DTS Mixed Use LLC, a joint venture between Phelan Development and WiRED Properties for Main Street, overlooking Oak Creek’s new Town Square. This marks the third restaurant for the iconic Milwaukee Restaurant Group whose flagship restaurant opened in July 2013 at 2597 North Downer Ave, in Milwaukee.
“The location is desirable because it is highly accessible with direct access to Howell Avenue (HWY 38) which runs directly through the heart of Oak Creek into Racine County, Drexel Avenue which runs directly west into Milwaukee’s southwest communities, and is literally just east of the interstate system with on and off ramps at Drexel. We are excited about being a member of the Oak Creek community and near a number of favorable neighboring businesses, apartments, and families,” said Scott Lurie, Managing Member for the restaurants. “(The location) is a blank canvas that allows us to recreate the same Pizza Man atmosphere that patrons have come to enjoy.”
The third Pizza Man location will be part of the redevelopment of the former AC Delco Plant, specifically Drexel Town Square, which is slated to open fall of 2016. Construction is planned to start in May, permits depending. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will be located on the south side of Drexel Town Square, facing the new community library and Oak Creek City Hall. The restaurant will seat 200 and include an outdoor patio for an additional 120 diners.
Rinka Chung Architecture, Inc., the same firm that designed the other Pizza Man locations, will also plan the Drexel Town Square location. It will reflect the charm and authenticity of the Milwaukee icon that was established at the northeast corner of East North and North Oakland Avenue more than 40 years ago. It will include the same rustic but modern look and feel, such as exposed brick and wooden booths that patrons have come to enjoy at the East Side and Wauwatosa locations.
The menu at the new location will be the similar to the flagship location, with some modifications. Kitchen operations will continue to be overseen by Executive Chef & Operating Partner Zachary Baker.
“The new incarnation of Pizza Man has been embraced by so many in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas, it’s exciting to add more neighborhoods to our Pizza Man family of restaurants,” said Sarah Baker, Director of Operations & Operating Partner. “At our core, Pizza Man is a neighborhood restaurant and our investment team is excited to continue to offer more neighborhoods their own unique Pizza Man experience.”
Operating hours for the new restaurant are still being determined.
About Pizza Man
The original Pizza Man opened in 1970 at the northeast corner of North and Oakland Avenues as a small carry-out pizza restaurant. On January 18, 2010, Pizza Man burned to the ground in a tragic fire, along with the other establishments and apartments in the building. Three years later, a group of local investors along with the original proprietor, reopened Pizza Man just down the street on Milwaukee’s Upper East Side. Met with success and a growing demand for additional locations, the original investment group along with a few new members, opened a second location in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Pizza Man has gone to great lengths to recreate the familiar, friendly, and eclectic old-world atmosphere with the warmth and intimacy that was embraced for 40 years in the original location.
