QUOTES
Anita O’Brien, Director/Curator of the Cartoon Museum said: "The Great British Graphic Novel is a celebration of the huge range of graphic novels coming out of the UK over the last thirty years. We believe people will be moved and inspired by the exhibition. SMARTIFY will allow us to showcase some of our research and enliven our displays in a way that has never before been possible for us before."
Thanos Kokkiniotis, CEO of SMARTIFY said: “Every year more than 30 million people visit London's top museums and galleries. Every day, 1.2 billion photos are uploaded to the top four social sites with art venues featuring heavily. SMARTIFY wants to reframe the use of smartphones in museums as engagement rather than distraction. Our technology will provide exciting new ways to connect with art, artists and those who love it.”

About SMARTIFY:
Ever been to a gallery and struggled for more information about the artwork? Had to forfeit your retina display and Hi-Fi noise cancelling headphones in favour of a second-hand audio guide and a pre-selected tour? SMARTIFY’s team of art lovers/tech nerds are launching a new app that empowers visitors to follow their own preferences, allowing museum-goers to scan any artwork and get access to inspiring audio and video commentary.
SMARTIFY C.I.C founded in December 2015. It hopes to enrich visits to art venues by creating meaningful connections with the artwork and the communities who love it. The app is currently available to iOS users with Android coming soon. SMARTIFY’s ambitious vision is to bring positive disruption to the way audiences experience art in museums, galleries and other venues. It is a platform to interpret, share and respond to art.
How it works
After scanning an artwork users are presented with museum commentary (text, podcasts etc.) and access to new voices, curators or friends (similar to Twitter or Instagram). Visitors can then follow related thematic tours, or share a personal reflection and start building a tour. All scanned works are saved to the user’s profile.
