Mr. Waxman joins the firm’s government investigations and SEC enforcement practice, bringing 20 years of experience handling complex white collar criminal defense and civil litigation matters. He has significant experience in the areas of corporate fraud, including securities fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), government contracts, commercial bribery, Medicaid/Medicare fraud, international/domestic money laundering, bank secrecy, gaming, non-profit, and Ponzi schemes. He also had a broad range of experience conducting internal investigations prompted by whistleblowers, federal and state law enforcement, and various regulatory agencies.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Waxman served as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C., where he successfully tried over 60 jury trials, 30 bench trials, and argued 15 matters on appeal. He also worked previously for leading international law firms located in New York City and Washington, D.C. where he represented Fortune 500 companies, corporate executives, investment bankers, and other professionals before various federal and state agencies, including the United States Attorney’s Offices for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Waxman received his B.S. from Florida State University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
