Arizona DUI Lawyers at Corso Law Group Warn of Increased DUI Patrols Over Memorial Day Weekend
Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) May 24, 2016 -- Arizona residents can expect increased police presence and DUI arrests over Memorial Day Weekend, according to Corso Law Group.
Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of summer and a dangerous time for drivers. The holiday weekend was also labeled one of the ten worst days for driving, according to Yahoo News, a frightening statistic paired with the fact that on weekends, more than eight percent of all drivers have measurable alcohol in their systems, according to the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In 2014, Arizona’s DUI task force which included an estimated 1,800 police officers, made a total of 495 DUI arrests over Memorial Day weekend. Officers also gave out more than 1,850 speeding citations and approximately 342 seat belt citations, according to Phoenix New Times.
“Police officers know there will be a steep increase in drivers on the road over Memorial Day weekend,” said Christopher Corso, founder of Corso Law Group. “It’s likely we’ll see an increase in DUI patrols and overall arrests.”
An Arizona DUI can have severe consequences including jail time in tent city, thousands of dollars in fines, increased auto insurance and the requirement of an interlock device.
“A DUI can dramatically affect one’s career, family and friends,” Corso said. "We want to make sure drivers fully understand their rights.”
