Civil Rights Icon Ambassador Andrew Young Calls on Leaders for Immediate Fluoridation Law Repeal
ELLIJAY, GA (PRWEB) October 17, 2016 -- Celebrated Civil Rights and Human Rights icon and former U.S. Ambassador Andrew J. Young has sent a strong letter to Georgia leadership calling for hearings to investigate the continued and harmful practice of water fluoridation.
In his letter to Georgia leaders, Mr. Young asks why the process of adding fluoridation chemicals to the water supply continues to take place despite the proven science on its dangers to the public, reports the national nonprofit Moms Against Fluoridation in conjunction with The Lillie Center for Energy and Health Studies.
“This is a Civil Rights issue,” Ambassador Andrew J. Young writes to Georgia officials, “and the people have a right to have the full story given to them, rather than highly edited, misleading talking points.”
Ambassador Young is firm in his request as he states: "I am calling for a repeal of Georgia's fluoridation law, immediately."
An internationally influential figure, Young states: “The story offered by water fluoridation promoters keeps changing… and changing… and changing.” He adds, “When someone’s story keeps changing, there are quite often motivations behind their changed stance that may not be aligned with the best interests of the public.” He further asks, “Are we sacrificing the health and safety of our communities simply because dentists don’t want to be embarrassed, or sued?”
“Andrew Young is a courageous Civil Rights leader who continues to inspire millions,” comments Daniel G. Stockin, MPH of The Lillie Center for Energy and Health Studies. "The Ambassador's letter to Governor Deal and Speaker Ralston directly addresses the vital issues of "Fluoridegate" and will not just help people here in Georgia, but all over the world.”
Joining The Lillie Center in promoting awareness of Young's groundbreaking letter, the Moms Against Fluoridation Team (MAF) released a statement in support of Ambassador Young: “As an organization deeply concerned with the ubiquitous nature of these unlabeled artificial fluoridation chemicals, we are in absolute agreement with Ambassador Young on this issue."
Mr. Young’s letter further states, "Dentists said fluoridation would help level the playing field for minority communities, but now we see in documents… that African Americans and other groups are actually disproportionately harmed by fluorides… Plus we have more diabetics and kidney patients in African American communities, and they deserve to not be kept in the dark and forced to drink fluorides."
"When a community adds fluoridation chemicals to drinking water, there is no way to control the dose of fluorides that anyone ingests, including our vulnerable or sensitive populations," adds Mr. Stockin.
The nonprofit Moms Against Fluoridation is proud to support Andrew Young’s call for hearings and call for a repeal. The group states, "Evidence-based science supports our position that people are being harmed, safety questions abound and leaders need to act. Flint-like complacency should not be the order of the day."
