Philadelphia Magazine Partners With Attract China To Reach Affluent Chinese Travelers
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) August 03, 2016 -- Philadelphia magazine and Attract China announced a partnership to reach Chinese tourists and Chinese nationals living in Philadelphia with the magazine’s award-winning content, Attract China’s travel website, XiaoYaoDao.cn (Happy Travel) and high-quality, passport-sized city guides for use by travel agents, concierges and travelers.
In 2014, 61,000 Chinese tourists traveled to Philadelphia, an increase of 52.5% over the previous year. Visitation estimates for the US are forecasted to increase 17.5% per year through 2020. In Philadelphia that translates into 186,000 visitors by 2020 spending $600MM a year. Philadelphia has become a mecca for students from China, including many from wealthy families, who seek the value and lifelong impact of an American college degree. As such, many travelers are visiting their children who are students at Philadelphia-area universities and colleges.
-- Two Great Ways to Reach Chinese Tourists in Philadelphia --
Attract China’s XiaoYaoDao.cn website caters to independent travelers providing them with tailored itineraries, hotel and restaurant recommendations, and cultural calendars. The company’s Chinese-language –city guides unfold to direct travelers to top retailers, restaurants and attractions. Monthly city guide distribution includes: travel agents in China, Philadelphia-based hotels, the Independence Visitor Center, and Philadelphia International Airport.
-- A Boom In Chinese Tourists --
“Travelers from across the globe are recognizing our city as an easily accessible and very affordable destination with so much to do, resulting in strong international tourism growth and interest from travelers across the globe – and those in China are no exception,” stated Brian Said, Executive Director of Tourism for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Our team, which includes an office in China, raises Philadelphia’s international profile by promoting our arts and culture, cuisine, tax-free shopping and the many diverse attractions in our city. Having additional in-language content available to visitors from China will only help those efforts.”
This partnership with Attract China and Philadelphia Magazine is essential for effectively reaching this lucrative market. By literally putting Philadelphia on the map with Chinese tourists and their travel agents, we will be establishing Philadelphia as a key destination to visit with ease on their trip to the Northeast. Plus, once tourists have arrived, Attract China's website, XiaoYaoDao.cn, and their Philadelphia city guide, both in Mandarin, will provide day-of planning ideas for Chinese visitors, concierges and tour guides to our state.
-- Luxury Goods A Powerful Draw --
Luxury goods are still a big draw for Chinese travelers with the same products costing anywhere from 40 to 68 percent more in mainland China. Chinese students have significant purchasing power as well. Attract China has attracted iconic brands, including Torneau, Four Seasons, Macy’s, and Hard Rock Cafe.
-- Real Estate In United States A Lower Investment Risk for Chinese --
Wealthy Chinese are already the largest group of foreign real-estate buyers in the US, with 16 percent of the single homes and condominiums purchased by foreign buyers snapped up by Chinese in the twelve-month period ending March 2015, according to the US National Homebuyers Association. These houses are typically more expensive properties worth on average $831,800.
