Everyone loves Speed Mentoring because they make a lot of connections in a short period of time. It develops relationships, gives attendees real-world advice, and has been known to lead to a lot of lasting professional relationships.

R6S proudly shows support for students, recent grads, and those interested in careers or guidance in digital media by sponsoring the Alliance for Women, Southern California’s (AWM SoCal) Speed Mentoring Program. This event specialized in all areas of digital media and was held at Carla's Cafe on the CBS Studios Radford Lot in Studio City, California on Saturday, June 4th, 2016.

A popular networking opportunity which regularly sells out, Speed Mentoring is modeled after the speed dating concept, and allows each mentee five minutes with a mentor. In that short amount of time the pairing can discuss career advice, tips of the trade, trends in the industry, potential internships and job openings, and other relevant topics.

Minoti Vaishnav, AWM SoCal Events Director and President-Elect, explains, “Everyone loves Speed Mentoring because they make a lot of connections in a short period of time. It develops relationships, gives attendees real-world advice, and has been known to lead to a lot of lasting professional relationships. We thank R6S for sponsoring the first-ever Digital Media Speed Mentoring, and thank Ash Sobhe and his team for all their support.”

R6S’ Vice President, Desireé Duffy, who is also the Immediate Past President of AWM SoCal, was a mentor for the event. Additionally, Parva Hashemi, Website Developer for R6S and Carina Voight, Project Manager for R6S, also attended as mentors. Veronica Avila was also on-hand to do social media for R6S and AWM SoCal.

Sobhe comments, “R6S believes in empowering those who are eager to embrace digital media. Our motto proclaims that we are a Digital Uprising—this means we’re on the forefront of advancements of digital media technology. Supporting AWM SoCal and their mission is a natural partnership and we’re proud to be a part of their mission.”
