HarbisonWalker International has reached an agreement with the United Steelworkers that will end the eleven month work stoppage at its Oak Hill, Ohio manufacturing facility.
Moon Twp., PA (PRWEB) March 24, 2016
HarbisonWalker International is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with the United Steelworkers that will end the eleven month work stoppage at our Oak Hill, Ohio manufacturing facility. The United Steelworkers re-voted on and ratified the original April 15, 2015 proposal offered by the company.
The new collective bargaining agreement will continue to provide above market wages and benefits in the Oak Hill community while allowing the company to compete in the global market. Throughout the process the company was committed to working with its labor partners to address several factors in the global economy that are challenging competitiveness (e.g., a strong US dollar is stimulating imports of competitive products, a downturn in the US steel industry, and falling oil prices.) The new collective bargaining agreement moves the company in the right direction.
HarbisonWalker International leadership noted appreciation for the cooperation, support and commitment of its entire team, who ensured all customers’ needs were met during this time period. The company stated that it looks forward to working with the United Steelworkers to effect an orderly return to work in the upcoming weeks.
