Intentional Leadership Teaches Concepts You Can’t Learn in a Classroom
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 09, 2017 -- Judy Nelson, JD, MSW, CPC, and international leadership coach, releases her book Intentional Leadership: Using Strategy in Everything You Do and Say today. Published by Motivational Press, she wrote the book to share the wisdom she gained over her 30 years as a CEO and other leadership roles.
“Throughout my varied career, I have learned some valuable lessons about leadership—and not the kind one learns in a seminar or graduate school,” Nelson said. “I share these experiences through personal stories with the hopes that others can learn some of these things earlier and easier than I did.”
A significant element of Nelson’s Intentional Leadership philosophy is that leaders should have a healthy sense of self-awareness to employ strategic self-management. Understanding how your natural personality traits affect your behavior is an essential ingredient to governing your leadership actions in the moment.
She presents the philosophy in four parts, designed to address the different areas of leadership that affect one’s style. Nelson’s goals are to help her readers:
- Increase self-awareness and self-management
- Decrease impulsive decision-making
- Facilitate team cohesiveness
- Enhance effectiveness
- Improve emotional intelligence and chances for excellence
“I have been a life-long writer. I have written thousands of words, although, to be honest, I never thought I would share them with anyone else. But after starting my encore career as an executive coach I realized that it’s important to share what you have learned through your own experiences to help others with theirs. My hope is the lessons I learned on my journey can help my readers bring out the best in their teams, as well as themselves,” Nelson said.
Nelson’s book is available from Motivational Press on Amazon and other booksellers worldwide in several formats.
