Vapen CBD, Merry Jane and Doctors for Cannabis Research Present Cannabis In Professional Sports February 1, 2017 at the Revention Music Center in Houston TX
Dallas Texas (PRWEB) January 13, 2017 -- Does medical marijuana have a proper place in professional sports? The organizers and sponsors of a new event taking place in Houston just prior to nation’s most high-profile gridiron competition, hope to propel the important discussion to the national spotlight.
For the first time in history, former pro athletes and medical doctors will team up together on stage to present Cannabis in Professional Sports, an event featuring frank discussion about the integration of cannabis and its related therapies into league sports medicine and proactive sports wellness programs.
Vapen CBD, cannabis media giant Merry Jane, and Doctors for Cannabis Research (DCR), present the historic sports medicine event, Cannabis in Professional Sports, Wednesday, February 1, from 6 – 10 p.m., at the Revention Music Center, 520 Texas Avenue in Houston, Texas.
The fete is open to the public. Ticket prices begin at $65. For information or tickets visit cannabisprosports.com.
“It’s time the discussion is brought to the national stage where it belongs,” said organizer Rory Mendoza. Among those participating in the event are former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon, former New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Kyle Turley, former Denver Broncos tight end Nate Jackson; and former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Eben Britton.
The panel discussion will kick of with physicians who will address research and regulations pertaining to cannabis use in the National Football League. Currently, league policy prohibits the “illegal use of drugs,” including cannabis. If an NFL player tests positive for cannabis, they can be fined, suspended and potentially banished from the league.
The goal of the physicians’ organization is to educate the public and sports league decision makers about the benefits of conduction cannabis research to provide relief avenues for pain, concussion symptoms, and other common conditions experienced by athletes at all levels. Dr. Sue Sisely, board member of Doctors for Cannabis Research is slated to appear.
Immediately following, athletes will discuss their own personal stories related to sports and cannabis. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and greet all panelists. “We invite the public to come out and meet their sports heroes,” said Mendoza.
For sponsor Vapen CBD that makes an inhaler popular in the sports world, the event is monumental. The company will discuss possible treatment solutions for concussion and other injuries so commonly found in sports. The company’s Vapen CBD inhaler contains the non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD), one of 113 active cannabinoids identified in the cannabis plant and considered by many athletes to be beneficial to overall health.
Merry Jane, a marijuana lifestyle themed media platform, is the official media partner for the event. The site, launched in 2015 by Snoop Dogg, is considered the definitive resource for culture, news video, food and style dedicated to expression and new cannabis mentality.
The ground breaking, educational Cannabis in Professional Sports event is open to the public. Attendees may participate in all of the speaker presentations covering a vast array of topics, from research in cannabis and professional sports, to changing the rules of the NFL.
“We invite the public to learn more about what’s happening to our football heroes during the week of the league’s biggest game. We’ll discuss he laws affecting players, and how the cannabis plant can benefit these athletes. The science is evolving and we must tell their stories,” said Mendoza.
Our motto is, ‘Let’s Educate a Future,’ and that's what we intend to do,” he said.
