Author Sandra Hare writes “Sustaining Grayce” to share the grace of God with young readers

Bereavement coordinator and author Sandra Hare has recently published her new novel, “Sustaining Grayce,” which details two young girls’ journey through life, friendship, and finding God.

The novel is reminiscent of the popular story called “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green: Grayce agrees to help Peggy, who is dealing with cancer. Grayce and Peggy become great friends, and as Peggy declines, Grayce attempts to bring her closer to God.

“In the story, we witness an intimate friendship that survives jealousy, misunderstandings, and loss,” Hare says. “It is a shining example of how God works through our lives and changes us for the better.”

Hare can identify with the theme of loss and struggle in the book, both as a person and as a bereavement coordinator. “I have had dark things happen in my life, and have witnessed people face death and grief in hospice.”

“But God was always there with me, through all of it,” Hare says. “That’s why I wrote this: to show everyone that he will never forsake them.
