IoT is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ application. Our customers benefit most when we partner with companies like Exosite to provide a dependable solution.
Mounds View, MN (PRWEB) February 07, 2017
Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of M2M and IoT devices and Exosite LLC, a leading provider in the Internet of Things (IoT) platform market, today announced interoperability between the MultiTech MultiConnect® Conduit™ gateway and Exosite’s new ExositeReady™ Gateway Engine (GWE) product. The MultiConnect® Conduit™, used in conjunction with GWE, provides a secure and scalable application-hosting framework for custom gateway applications that enable connected solutions in the smart industrial and smart building markets.
The MultiConnect Conduit is the industry’s most configurable, manageable, and scalable IoT communications gateway. Quick to deploy and easy to use, the Conduit gateway supports both wired and wireless connectivity standards through two accessory card slots. The Conduit enables a wide variety of asset types to be optimally connected and controlled using a slew of different application and communication protocols.
The MultiTech Conduit gateway offers out-of-the-box interoperability with ExositeReady™ GWE, a developer and deployment tool purpose-built by Exosite to shrink development time for gateways connecting to Exosite’s Murano cloud platform. GWE is a Python-based application framework that runs on embedded Linux gateway devices, including the MultiTech Conduit. It is intended for developers who need a scalable, reliable, and secure way to manage an IoT design pattern that requires connecting multiple devices to a central, Internet-enabled gateway that will communicate with a cloud platform or on-premise server.
MultiTech’s Conduit gateway, powered by ExositeReady™ GWE, supports cutting-edge IoT connectivity like that enabled by MultiConnect® mDot™ and xDot™ LoRaWAN™ compliant modules. LoRaWANTM is a low-power, long-range wireless technology that connects sensors and controls assets over miles, deep into buildings and through structures, on a single battery that lasts for years. Application examples include detecting and alerting on water leaks in large hotels or apartment buildings and controlling pumping systems deployed in industrial environments.
“IoT is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ application. Our customers benefit most when we partner with companies like Exosite to provide a dependable solution,” said Daniel Quant, Vice President, Product Management and Strategic Marketing at MultiTech. Exosite’s GWE enables both us and our customers to quickly and easily add this functionality to our Conduits, and demonstrate how easily data can be visible for all types of uses.”
“The combined value proposition we offer our customers increases with tighter integration between our software products and MultiTech hardware solutions,” said Jim Caraccio, director of channel sales at Exosite. “GWE provides an application-hosting framework, Supervisor, and API library, and supports functions like over-the-air (OTA) updates. Couple this with a solution template that enables data visualization in our Murano platform, and customers have a solid foundation that enables them to focus on their custom application.”
