Couple Tees Off Ultimate Golf Road Trip in Winnebago
Eatonton, Georgia (PRWEB) February 27, 2017 -- Jordan and Brittany Griggs have teed off on the Ultimate Golf Road Trip, a one-year adventure to play America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, as ranked by Golf Digest. With twelve courses completed since January 1, the millennial couple plans to visit 33 states in 2017 and put 20,000 miles on their Winnebago View—the home and office they share with a cat and dog.
“We gave up lots of stress and little quality time together,” says Jordan of their previous careers in finance. “Now we’re sharing our experience in hopes of inspiring others to pursue their passions and embark on adventures of their own.”
Blogging about golf and full-time travel at TheDapperDrive.com and WinnebagoLife.com, the couple has corporate sponsors and often barters Brittany’s professional photography for green fees and other golf expenses.
“We love being able to go anywhere we want to,” says Brittany of their lifestyle. “Rather than living out of a suitcase in hotels, we can literally pack up our house, take our animals with us, and live day-to-day life on the road.”
Millennials like the Griggs, both 30, are among the fastest-growing segments of converted van and RV owners, thanks in part to portable digital occupations. The interest is evident on social media, where more than one million Instagram posts have the hashtag “Vanlife”.
“Increasing numbers of millennials have begun to enter the marketplace,” says Frank Hugelmeyer, president of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, which projects record RV sales in 2017 for the eighth straight year. “They share core RV values.”
RV brands are responding with budget-friendly travel trailers that are towable with a small SUV, as well as compact Class B and Class C motorhomes complete with USB charging stations, flat screens, and space for gear and pets.
“Our View is a lot sleeker and aesthetically appealing, so most resorts welcome us to stay free in their parking lots,” says Jordan. “But inside, it’s pretty spacious for the two of us and a couple people over to hang out. Besides a great reputation and history, Winnebago has well-designed layouts.”
The Ultimate Golf Road Trip is scheduled to wrap up by Christmas, though the Griggs say they may slow up their itinerary if the pace becomes too hectic.
“I used to love to hop on a plane and be there,” Jordan says. “But once you start RVing, it’s a different feeling. There’s a sense of discovery that lends so much more to the experience.”
