Robert Kelsey, Pioneer Real Estate Publisher, Dies at Age 82
(PRWEB) February 27, 2017 -- Robert Hamilton Kelsey peacefully passed away on February 12, 2017, at home in California’s Santa Ynez Valley. As pioneer publishers pursuing unexplored territory, he and his wife, Pamela, first introduced to the world a showcase of preeminent residential estate properties in 1969. Throughout the ensuing years, their vision has been globally acknowledged as a masterpiece publication, in what they uncompromisingly branded "Leading Estates of the World."
Robert Hamilton Kelsey was born on November 9, 1934, in Iowa and moved to San Diego when he was three. His father worked in Naval operations during World War II at San Diego Airport, from where Bob developed an early love of flying. The family moved to Glendale when Bob was in the fifth grade. He loved football and played starting center in Hoover High’s championship game in the Rose Bowl. He continued his education at the University of Southern California, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. For all the years that followed, Bob was an avid fan of all USC sports, especially football, including their seven national championships achieved during his years as a student and alumnus. A year later he met Pamela Jean Raphael at a basketball game. They were married August 7, 1964, in Bel-Air and honeymooned in Europe. After a few years of his working in sales and Pam teaching school, Bob developed a desire for them to work together and began dreaming up a business. On Sunday afternoons from their hilltop in Brentwood they enjoyed searching for Open Houses in the classified ads—there were no real estate magazines in those days. He began to visualize presenting beautiful properties in an exquisite way. His dream became the magazine,"Leading Estates of the World," first published in 1969. Soon after, he inaugurated The Estates Club for the world’s leading real estate brokers and companies. In 2015, they transitioned into consultant roles to long-term Estates Club members who continue to publish Leading Estates of the World in the Kelseys’ tradition of excellence. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Kelsey.
