Growing up in the Amish community of Culver County, Pennsylvania, Lyddie Fisher feels as though she will never fit in. The Amish way of life comes with many strict teachings that Lyddie finds hard to follow at times. Her many questions bring her much discipline from the new bishop. Her heart breaks as Josiah, her best friend and the man she feels she will one day marry, turns his back on her in anger.

She knows not if her relationship with Josiah will ever be restored as she struggles with his desire for her to submit to him, his rules, and the rules of their community. Ultimately, Lyddie may be forced to leave her family, community, and her Amish heritage behind to find love outside of the Amish Faith. Follow Lyddie through her life’s journey as she struggles between living the life that is expected of her and the desire to follow her own heart.
