Chalk & Wire Makes Valid Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes Even Easier Across Higher Education Programs
Ridgeway, Ontario (PRWEB) March 01, 2017 -- Chalk & Wire, the most trusted higher education assessment provider, today announced new features to its platform that will help institutions better assess a general education program, and a variety of other programs, by measuring student learning outcomes.
Eliminating double assessment, Chalk & Wire now allows the inclusion of outcomes-only criteria into task-based rubrics. This permits grades and learning outcomes to be addressed in the same instrument at the same time.
“For the first time in any ePortfolio-enabled assessment platform, faculty can grade for their specific course and also offer their expert opinion about how far each student has progressed towards graduation attributes envisioned by the institution,” said Geoff Irvine, CEO, Chalk & Wire. “This is a game-changing opportunity to test student skills gained across whole programs or an entire general education offering, which can lead to discussions about ongoing program review and improvement.”
Additional Chalk & Wire enhancements include a new supplemental instruments feature that automatically generates two assessments from one submission. This lets assessors use a single student work sample to assess for two purposes, e.g., grading, outcomes, or to test a new rubric.
New reporting capabilities offer assessment coordinators and institutional effectiveness personnel a powerful tool for engaging in “on the fly” testing of how well a rubric is performing. Visual reports clearly demonstrate assessment variances, making it even easier for institutions to fine-tune their assessment efforts as needed.
