The Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource provider for higher education information, has compiled a list of the best colleges and universities with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) programs for 2017. Of the 22 schools that were ranked, University of Iowa, Drexel University, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Columbia University in the City of New York and Duke University came in as the top five institutions on the list.

“The path to becoming a nurse anesthetist can be a challenging one, and the right educational background is critical,” said Doug Jones, CEO and founder of “These schools have been rated for overall quality and offer a solid foundation for nursing professionals seeking to specialize in anesthesiology.”

To earn a spot on the “Best” list, colleges and universities must be institutionally accredited, public or private not-for-profit entities. Each school is also considered based on such criteria as student/teacher ratios, academic and career counseling services, loan default rates, graduation rates and financial aid availability.
