Over 60 four-year, two-year colleges honored for online teaching program excellence.

The Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource provider for higher education information, has released a list of the best colleges and universities with online teaching programs for 2017. The top 50 four-year schools were ranked, with Nova Southeastern University, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Canisius College, East Carolina University and Northern Arizona University coming in as the top five. The top 16 two-year schools were also included, with Odessa College, East Mississippi Community College, College of Southern Idaho, Arizona Western College and Northeast Community College taking the top five spots.

“The presence of good teachers is a critical need in any high-functioning society,” said Doug Jones, CEO and founder of “These colleges and universities offer not only an excellent education for future teachers but also the flexibility of being able to complete a program off-campus.”

To earn a spot on the “Best Online Teaching Programs” list, colleges and universities must be accredited, public or private not-for-profit institutions. Each college is also selected based on such criteria as student resources, student/teacher ratios, availability of academic counseling, graduation rates and financial aid offerings.
