Michael D. Wright Sr.’s new book Following God into the Trenches ($12.99, paperback, 9781498473576; $6.99, eBook, 9781498473583) explains the effectiveness of small urban church ministry, and reveals biblical evidence for the existence of the small church.
Biblical and theological foundations will help readers to see how the small church has transitioned from its inception, into the 21st century church. Along the way readers will explore the differences between the small church and the larger church, understanding how those differences shape the way ministry is carried out in the missional plan of God.
Wright says, “This book is a first-hand account of an actual small church from its inception through maturation and that it is still thriving as a small church. In the urban setting of Philadelphia, there are scores of small churches that could use this true story of encouragement. I hope that this book will give small churches encouragement to keep doing ministry in bleak circumstances.”
Michael D. Wright Sr. has a Master’s Degree in Missional Theology from Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, and also a Doctorate Degree in Black Church Studies from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The church depicted in this book is an ongoing account of his calling and pastorate in urban Philadelphia. It is nonfiction and continues to be lived out.
