Kenyan law student Tyler Ayah among The Intern Group’s 2017 scholarship winners
Santiago, Chile (PRWEB) April 12, 2017 -- International internship provider The Intern Group (TIG) is pleased to announce its four 2017 scholarship winners. A total of US$9,500 in program expenses will be covered by the company in order to facilitate international internships for these four outstanding young professionals seeking global experiences.
Of the four scholarships offered in 2017, The Intern Group’s 2017 Global Leadership Grant will go to Tyler Ayah from Kenya. This US$2,000 scholarship will cover half of the international internship program fee for Tyler Ayah to spend six weeks in Medellín, Colombia. Ayah is currently studying Law at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.
With aspirations to be a Supreme Court Judge in Kenya, Tyler Ayah hopes “to make a great contribution towards enhancing the lives of women and children in Africa.” Ayah believes an international internship is a crucial step towards achieving her goals.
“Earning professional experience abroad is essential because it will allow me to gain insight into how other global systems operate, and afford me with a distinctive set of experiences that I may take away to implement in my future career,” said Ayah.
Ayah said this scholarship from The Intern Group is essential to making this once-in-a-lifetime professional and cultural opportunity happen.
“At the beginning of high school, I set a goal to work abroad before I graduated,” said Ayah, “However, I understood that an internship abroad was expensive, and was not prepared to put this financial burden on my parents. The Intern Group scholarship has therefore played a significant role in turning my goals into a reality, allowing me to fulfill my ambition to intern abroad.”
Thanks to this opportunity Ayah will boost her industry knowledge and other professional and personal skills.
“I hope that being in a new office environment will teach me lessons in humility and courage as I get to know and work with people, and learn a new language,” said Ayah.
Ayah also shares a strong interest in the cultural immersion aspect of her time in Colombia, where she will intern in Government and Politics or Law.
“I am looking forward to experiencing Colombia; where culture is vital and is openly celebrated throughout the country. In that sense, I am most looking forward to the food, people, and work environment, and notably also learning about the politically challenging history of Colombia, that has developed into the distinguished country it is today.”
