Chicago Real Estate Brokers Robyn Lee Brooks, Keith Goad of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group to Represent the Sale of Elbridge G. Keith Mansion
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) April 18, 2017 -- Chicago real estate brokerage Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group has announced that brokers Robyn Lee Brooks and Keith Goad were selected to market the historic Elbridge G. Keith Mansion located at 1900 S. Prairie Avenue in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The landmark status home is one of five remaining mansions in the Prairie Avenue Historic District.
Originally known as the Elbridge G. Keith Mansion, the Second Empire-style home was designed by John W. Roberts and built in 1870-71. Elbridge G. Keith was a prominent businessman who worked with his brothers as partners at Keith Brothers, a millinery, hats, caps and furnishing goods business that grew to be one of the largest in the country. Later, he was elected president of Chicago Title and Trust Company. The home has been owned by the same family since 1978. Today, it is commonly referred to as The Keith House.
“We are honored to represent such a unique and beautiful historic home that is so rare to find in the city,” said Brooks. She continued, “The formal main house and coach house have a combined square footage of 10,660 and would make an elegant single family home or fantastic condo conversion.”
Goad added, “It also has very desirable DX-3 zoning, which allows for light commercial use of the property, such as a boutique hotel, a bed and breakfast, event space, foreign embassy, corporate retreat center, or art gallery, just to name a few examples of how the space could be used. There is also income potential for both the main house and coach house.”
The South Loop is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Chicago. Next door to the home is the beautiful Chicago Women’s Park & Gardens that includes Clark House, the oldest house in Chicago. This beautiful historic property is walking distance to the lakefront, beaches, museum campus, parks, the Loop, restaurants and public transportation.
Much of the home’s original charm has been preserved including the original Eastlake oak fireplace surround with carved floral elements, a unique split flue fireplace to allow for a window immediately above the fireplace, the original oak staircase, extensive molding profiles, built-ins and other vintage details.
