Metro Boston Launches wknd -- The Ultimate Guide For Bostonians’ Weekend
Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 18, 2017 -- Metro Boston today announces the launch of Metro wknd, Metro’s new weekend edition with extended going out and arts coverage, supported by an increased circulation and a refined distribution strategy.
Beginning with the first issue last Thursday, April 13, 100,000 copies of Metro wknd edition will be distributed every Thursday and available throughout the weekend – becoming the go-to weekly destination for Bostonians planning their weekend as well as offering a unique communication platform for going out venues and cultural institutions in the Greater Boston area. Together with 75,000 copies distributed from Monday to Wednesday it establishes Metro as Boston’s highest circulated daily newspaper.
Brian Cox, Associate Publisher of Metro Boston commented: “these are exciting times for Metro Boston. A stronger product, a stronger circulation and an improved distribution will better serve our readers – as well as deliver more results to our advertisers.”
The first issue included 16 pages of going out content and 40 pagination with stories such as Where to Watch the Boston Marathon, Eat Like an Insider Chef Profile: Matthew Gaudet, Your Weekend Starts Here, Women in Comedy Festival, and Chefs’ Favorite Eats Under $5, among other stories.
Metro wknd will be overseen by Metro Boston’s new Going Out Editor, Matt Juul, who has more than five years of experience writing about Boston’s entertainment scene for outlets such as Boston.com and Boston Magazine.
Alek Korab, Metro US Chief Content Officer said: “Put it simply, we want Metro WKND to become the ultimate guide for Bostonians’ weekend. In such a culturally-rich city, we only aim to deliver to Bostonians what they deserve in print and online.”
To celebrate the launch, Metro is opening up new innovative distribution channels. The newspaper will now be distributed via metro bikes as well as being available in a range of selected coffee shops around the city.
