LabRoots will host the webinar April 28, discussing the basic pathophysiology of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC), along with diagnostic and management approaches.

Paul Riley, PhD, MBA Scientific Business Development Manager, Diagnostica Stago, Inc.

As part of the Stago EdVantage Virtual University Virtual Event, the latest webinar in the series will explore the laboratory testing for DIC in order to illuminate this clinical problem for people unfamiliar with the topic.

DIC is a serious hypercoagulable disorder which can occur in hospitalized patients resulting in a high degree of morbidity and mortality. DIC is a confusing disorder from both diagnostic and therapeutic standpoints resulting from several unrelated diseases which can trigger DIC, along with a lack of uniformity in clinical manifestation, laboratory diagnostic practices, and consensus on patient management.

Following this webinar, attendees will learn from demonstrations on diagnostic and management approach for DIC, learning to compare markers of thrombin & plasmin generation in DIC. In addition, the webinar will correlate DIC theory and testing to specific clinical cases.

The speaker for this event will be Dr. Paul Riley, scientific business development manager at Diagnostica Stago, Inc.

Riley earned a PhD in biochemistry from Temple University before becoming a product manager and scientific affairs specialist. He later completed an MBA degree program at Cornell University. He has a great interest in working with clinical pathologists, pharmacists, basic scientists, and pharmaceutical researchers to perform studies and publish, contributing to advancement of hemostasis.

LabRoots will host the webinar April 28, 2017, commencing at 6:00 a.m. PDT. To learn more about the Stago EdVantage Virtual University Virtual Event, discover the continuing education credits offered, or to register for free, click here.
