Golf Academy of America Teams Place in NCCGA Regional Tournaments
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (PRWEB) April 21, 2017 -- Golf Academy of America announced today that club teams from two of its campuses placed in spring regional National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) tournaments. The Phoenix team placed second in the Desert Regional Tournament, while the San Diego team placed first in the Southwest Regional Tournament.
Golf Academy of America in Phoenix has been participating in these tournaments for three years. This spring, the Desert Regional NCCGA Tournament took place on April 8-9 at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz. Six teams competed to qualify for the NCCGA Spring National Championship.
Four players on the Golf Academy of America team, Devyn Ensign, Mitch DeAndre, Josh Nelson and William Eldfrenkamp, finished in the top 10.
“It was a very difficult, challenging course, and a windy day, and our students performed phenomenally,” said Golf Academy of America in Phoenix Campus President Timothy Eberlein. “The students have a great time getting out there and playing, and we are so proud of them.”
The Southwest Regional NCCGA spring tournament took place at the same time at the Woods Valley Golf Club in Valley Center, Calif.
Golf Academy of America in San Diego, which has also been competing in NCCGA tournaments for three years, placed first in the spring Southwest Regional tournaments, qualifying for the National Championship Tournament at the end of April. This is the fifth time the school has qualified for the national tournament.
Brent Howk, Jacob Nelson, Dane Badami, Brandon Alvarado and Kelly Schnasse all finished in the top eight in the April tournament, with Howk scoring the lowest of all the players. The regional medalist in the February tournament, Adam Herald, was also a Golf Academy of America student.
“Our team competed very well, and we had a lot of interchangeable parts and talent within the team, which really contributed to our depth,” said Golf Academy of America in San Diego Campus President Rich Iorio. “The students played well, competed hard and represented Golf Academy of America at a very high level. We look forward to future events down the road.”
