Industry-wide adoption of the Zixi Platform has allowed media companies to source new content and reach global audiences with thousands of live streams using cloud-based virtual infrastructure

Zixi, the market leader in delivering live broadcast-quality video over IP and the Internet, unveiled the Zixi ZEN Management cloud-based platform. ZEN Management reduces complexity of live-streaming workflows via an easy-to-use GUI where users can manage broadcast video inputs and outputs, create live linear channels, and view the health of their Zixi Enabled Network down to the stream, device, and channel level. For media companies around the world who want to leverage virtual infrastructure to grow content offerings, ZEN Management provides tools to configure, orchestrate, and monitor live broadcast channels and events across industry protocols at scale.
“Industry-wide adoption of the Zixi Platform has allowed media companies to source new content and reach global audiences with thousands of live streams using cloud-based virtual infrastructure,” said Chris Noe, Executive Chairman, Zixi. “Today we’re delivering the tools to easily manage Zixi live linear channels at scale with ZEN Management. Now, content owners and service providers can quickly self-provision and monitor infinite live channels—right from a centralized elegant GUI.”
ZEN Management is a cloud-based platform that allows users to control and manage a global Zixi Enabled Network (ZEN) made up of Zixi software subsystems and Zixi-enabled edge devices. With ZEN Management, broadcast professionals can easily manage all devices and video content within their own organization and with content distribution partners.
ZEN Management maintains automatic configuration details for all Zixi resources, including Zixi Feeders, third-party Zixi embedded hardware, and Zixi Broadcaster clusters, as well as to publishing targets such as a Zixi Receiver or multiple CDNs. This enables users to create single or adaptive-bitrate channels from any source to any distribution point, complete with multi-region automatic failover, almost instantly. The platform includes three pools of Zixi Broadcaster instances, which are used for the ingest, processing (transcoding, transmuxing), and delivery of video content. Each pool features dynamic cloud auto-scaling, so companies can fluidly add and remove content offerings without additional setup, all while optimizing operational cost.
“New delivery models are creating opportunities for media companies and service providers, particularly those that can move with speed and do more with less,” concluded Noe. “From distributing content to new regions, to creating hyper-localized channels, the Zixi Platform provides that reach, operational agility, and effeciency. ZEN Management brings it all together, making it easy to quickly launch new offerings and efficiently scale the operation.”
Users can access the cloud-based platform from a standard web browser and see all live-streaming activity between connected Zixi nodes at a glance. The user dashboard provides an easy way to create new channels, and gives an overview of the status for all connected resources with color-coded indicators that display the health and operability of all hardware, software, and channels in a given video-delivery network.
To give team members appropriate access to the platform, ZEN Management features robust role-management and permissions tools. Administrators can easily create user profiles and groups with specific access to ZEN resources. With multi-layer authentication and single sign-on access, media companies can maintain operational integrity when transitioning to next-generation delivery models.
Zixi is revolutionizing video transmission in the same way the cloud transformed computing. Zixi’s industry-leading software platform transforms the Internet into a broadcast-quality, global video delivery network so the world’s leading media organizations, service providers, and technology companies can enrich user experiences, create new services, reduce operating costs, and realize possibilities not yet imagined. Zixi is a privately held company led by media industry veterans and IP video experts, with company headquarters in Boston, MA.
