LEGACY Global Sports to Host First-Ever National Lacrosse Week
Portsmouth, N.H. (PRWEB) April 25, 2017 -- This summer, LEGACY Global Sports will debut its inaugural National Lacrosse Week, providing some of the top youth and high school boys and girls lacrosse players from around the country with a unique opportunity to hone their skills, participate in high-level competition and demonstrate their prowess in front of leading NCAA coaches.
Depending on age and qualification, players will take part in one of four flagship showcase tournaments: the National Lacrosse Classic, National Prospect Invite, National Lacrosse Academy or the first-time National Collegiate Prep Preview. These four events will be held from July 17-21, 2017 at the River City Sportsplex in Richmond, Va., providing players, parents and coaches with a one-stop lacrosse destination that affords maximum game time and optimal scouting potential.
“National Lacrosse Week was designed to bring together the best players and NCAA coaches from across the nation in order to recognize top-tier talent and maximize recruiting convenience,” said Joel Franklin, Director of Lacrosse for LEGACY Global Sports. “By introducing the National Collegiate Prep Preview, and integrating it with the other three prestigious events in one location, we’ll recognize outstanding male and female players ages 12 through 18, give NCAA lacrosse coaches the chance to give back and teach young talent, and provide exposure for high school athletes to elite-level competition and college recruiting opportunities.”
The four events being held during National Lacrosse Week are:
• National Lacrosse Classic: Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this annual showcase event features more than 1,000 premier boys and girls players from across the country selected based on skills and sportsmanship demonstrated at regional tryouts. As a gateway to the NCAA, thousands of National Lacrosse Classic participants have gone on to excel at the collegiate level.
• National Prospect Invite: This exclusive event highlights 480 high-achieving boys and girls lacrosse players from the 2019, 2020 and 2021 graduating classes. Player selection is based on athletic acumen, personal character and academic excellence through a comprehensive nominating and coach referral process.
• National Lacrosse Academy: In its seventh year under the direction of Ron Caputo, assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Duke University; Chelsea Rosiek, head women’s lacrosse coach at St. Bonaventure University; and Eileen Ghent, head women’s lacrosse coach at Monmouth University, this three-day program offers intensive individual and group position instruction, human performance, sport psychology and national game competition focused on developing young boys and girls lacrosse athletes to compete at the top high school and collegiate levels.
• New this year is the National Collegiate Prep Preview, an event highlighting seniors that are graduating in 2017 and have committed to play for a college or university lacrosse program next fall. This affords boys and girls players the opportunity to keep their skills sharp between high school and college while representing their state and selected institutions.
