Intalere Debuts Illuminated Path Podcast Series with“Make Plans for MACRA” Discussion with Huron Healthcare Expert
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) April 26, 2017 -- Intalere, the healthcare industry leader in delivering optimal cost, quality and clinical outcomes, today released the podcast, “Make Plans for MACRA,” highlighting the impact of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act in bringing value-based payment into the physician's office and how physicians and other clinicians are reimbursed for the care they deliver in Medicare.
The podcast, hosted by Lori Pilla, vice president of Intalere Supply Chain Solutions, features a discussion with Matthew Bates, managing director in Huron’s healthcare practice and industry expert on MACRA strategy and execution. Discussion points focus on:
• Defining MACRA.
• Exploring how it brings value-based payment to Medicare Part B coverage.
• Its possible success in replacing the sustainable growth rate (SGR) with a fair and viable alternative.
• Its implementation and overall impact for physicians and clinics in both rural and urban settings.
“The reality is that 2017 is the measurement or what's called the ‘performance year’ that's going to determine how you get paid starting in 2019,” said Bates. “The failure to do anything under MACRA will immediately result in a four percent cut in your Medicare [Part B] reimbursement in 2019.”
The podcast stresses the importance of provider organizations and physicians educating themselves on MACRA and implementing quality and clinical practice improvements, such as Meaningful Use standards, that will assist in maximizing reimbursement under MACRA. Recent surveys indicate that up to 50 percent of physicians haven't heard of MACRA or are lacking in information and education (Deloitte survey, 2016).
The MACRA podcast is the first in a new Intalere series entitled, Illuminated Path, shining a light on healthcare's best operational practices. The next podcast in the series will focus on shared-decision making. You can listen to this episode and subscribe to Illuminated Path via iTunes or anywhere you subscribe to podcasts.
